Remove Old Pet Stains In Carpet

GENESIS 950 CUSTOMER REVIEW

Pet stains can be a hassle. They can leave behind unsightly stains, or they can make your house smell. If not properly removed stains and odors can linger. Removing those stains and odors can be a challenge . . . unless of course you use Genesis 950.

Genesis 950 can remove old pet stains just as well as new pet stains. It works unlike other cleaners. Many cleaners are chemical based. However treating a stain with heavy chemicals doesn't always remove it. They can also discolor the carpet.

Genesis 950 is a concentrated cleaner that works with water to remove stains. Once water is added, Genesis 950 works to make stains water soluble. This allows stains to then break down. This process allows stains to be removed without the use of hazardous chemicals. Genesis 950 is a green cleaner! You can clean safely without worrying about exposing pets or children to dangerous chemicals.

We recently received some feedback from a customer. Julie wrote:

"Hi, I have a large area (living room, hall and 3 bedrooms) that my 5 year old shih tzu has completely destroyed with urine stains. I ordered a gallon of your product, and it quickly removed a pretty large feces stain from my 5 month old puppy, so I was pretty excited to try it in a carpet cleaner."
She also included photos of the stain and the results.

How To Remove Cat Vomit Stains

How To Remove Cat Vomit Stains

Cat vomit stains can be one of the hardest pet stains to remove. Dye in cat food can easily penetrate carpet fiber and leave discoloration. Cleaning these stains can be difficult for this reason. Cat vomit can also be found long after the sickness occurred. Genesis 950 makes it easy to clean cat vomit stains! Genesis 950 is a surfactant based cleaner that works with water to make stains water soluble. This allows a stain to be broken down and rinsed away from the surface.

While there are several products on the market that claim to be designed to work specifically on pet stains, they do not always work. There are several reasons for this:

Vinegar Pet Stain Remover
Vinegar - Nearly all DIY pet stain remover recipes call for Vinegar. It's easily accessible, non-hazardous and has general cleaning properties. Unfortunately, it is the WORST thing you can use for cleaning pet stains. The acidic composition of vinegar contains elements found in the acidic base of urine. This similarity between the scent of vinegar and pet urine may draw your pet to go to the bathroom in the spot where you applied it to the carpet. Pet owners who use vinegar often find their pet keeps going to the bathroom in the same spot no matter how many times they clean the area. The reason they go in that spot is because vinegar does not remove the urine scent. instead, it enhances it.

Enzymes - Enzymes are often praised as the go to miracle cleaner for pet stains. This couldn't be further from the truth. Enzymes work on the principal that when two specific substances come in contact with each other, a natural reaction will occur causing the stains to break down. Unfortunately, it is not that simple. Enzymes are extremely complex. Specific factors need to be in place for enzymes to work. The easiest explanation is by comparing enzymes to the principal of using a lock and key. Take one lock and hundreds of keys. To be unlocked, the correct key needs to be used. While all the other keys may fit into the lock, only the one that 100% matches will work. All the other keys are useless. Enzymes will only break down an element if they have the proper DNA strands. In addition to the DNA matching, there are other factors in play: temperature, moisture, age of the enzyme, age of the stains and so on. It just takes one factor to be off to prevent, the enzyme from working. To complicate the process even more, enzymes sold are mass produced. They are not designed to react specifically to the pH levels of an individual pet's urine. Differences in pet's diets, health issues and other factors vary from one animal to another. The most common complaint about enzymes is that the stain reappears a few days later or the odor returns. This is because the enzymes used are not compatible to change the specific stain being treated. Enzymes also can not properly clean the padding. While the stain on the carpet may appear cleaned, anything below the surface is still present and will lift upward with changes in humidity. They also do not kill the bacteria which creates the odor. As a result, the odor is not removed.
Best Pet Stain Remover
Household Cleaners - When it comes to homemade pet stain remover recipes, soap based cleaners are listed ingredients right behind vinegar. This is where we insert the face palm emoji! Soaps are designed as surface cleaners. They perform best when removing stains from hard surfaces. Some might do a decent job at lifting light food or drink stains, but they do not have the power to properly clean pet stains. When used as a spot cleaner, soap based cleaners do not have any impact on odors below the surface. They can not get into the padding where the odor originates. Attempting to deep clean carpets with soap based cleaners can leave your carpet looking worse. Soap attracts dirt. Rather then break down dirt, it pulls it together and can cause it to clump up. In the process, streaking can occur in the carpet.

This carpet shows what can happen when soap based cleaners are used. This carpet had pet stains spread throughout it. Pets were having repeated accidents on the carpet. The reason: Once a pet marked the carpet and the urine odor was there, the pets continued to go in the spots where they smelled urine. The soap based cleaners can not remove that odor. Soaps attract dirt. So the spots where soap based cleaners were used only ending up making the carpet dirtier. This carpet was treated this way for several years and the owners finally gave up. The pet odor that prevailed throughout the room was horrible. See the results below in the before and after when cleaned with Genesis 950!

Oxidizing Cleaners - Through a process called oxidization, these cleaners interact with oxygen to create a chemical reaction that is intended to break down the stain. Many oxidizers use Nirtic Acid (which is in fertilizer - do you really want that in your carpet?) to remove electrons in an effort to displace a stain. This is not a natural process, but rather chemical based. These are the types of cleaners that are most damaging to carpets.Chemistry in the oxidizers can change carpet various colors. A pinkish tint is the most common discoloration. This damage is not reversible!

How To Remove Cat Puke From Furniture

REMOVE PET STAINS FROM FURNITURE

Cats are prone to occasional instances of random vomiting. Whether it be from eating something, eating too much, cleaning themselves or an illness, cat puke is never pleasant to clean. It appears in the most inconvenient places . . . on good carpets, in the middle of the room, or even on furniture. Usually by the time it is discovered, it has already dried up and if not properly treated, staining surface areas.

These types of stains are a double edge sword. While we hate the mess, and hate having to clean it up, it gives us the opportunity to show how easy it is to remove pet stains with Genesis 950.

Best Pet Stain Remover.

The stain in the photo above was discovered at the end of the night. One of the cats decided to puke on top of the microfiber couch as well as a blanket that was folded over the couch. This stain was already all dried up. If you own a cat, you know that the dried vomit is not easy to remove.

To clean the stain, Genesis 950 was used. Because it is the best cleaner for multiple purposes, a spray bottle is kept under the kitchen sink for just these types of messes. The premixed bottle contains about 1/3 Genesis 950 and the remaining 2/3 water. Simply shake the bottle up a bit and spray on the stained area.

Genesis 950 is not like any other cleaner. There are no harsh chemicals in the 950. It works with water to be absorbed by the stain. This alters the structure of the stain. As a result, the stain will break free from the surface it has adhered to. When the 950 is sprayed on the stain, the stain in turn breaks down and can then be removed. Because there are no harsh chemicals, it will not damage, alter, discolor or ruin your furniture and upholstery.

After the 950 and water mixture have broken down the stain it can be wiped clean. Here, a paper towel was used to wipe the area clean. There was no need to scrub, scrape or chisel at the stain, it simply wiped away.

Above the area has been cleaned. The entire process took about 1 - 2 minutes. Genesis 950 makes cleaning pet stains fast and easy. It can remove stains that contain dye from pet food, blood or bile.

In addition to cleaning vomit stains, Genesis 950 is also perfect for removing pet stains. It will not only remove the stain, but any odors associated with the stain. To make things even better, it is green! it is safe for you, your family and your pets.

Holiday Carpet Cleaning

CLEAN YOUR CARPET FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Winter is upon us, and with winter comes rain and snow. Your carpets can take a toll from muddy, wet shoes tracking through the house. If you are a pet owner, you might even be battling muddy paws. As the season goes on, this traffic can take a toll on your carpet. Trails begin to appear throughout your house. Wet tracks begin to seep through the carpet taking dirt and grime with them. It doesn't take long before the dirt actually gets down into the carpet. On occasion there is an attempt to clean some of the mess - whether it be blotting it with a paper towel or grabbing a spray bottle with some store bought cleaner.
Best Carpet Stain Remover

Grabbing that bottle of stain remover might not be the best idea however. In some cases, you can actually make a bigger stain then you started with. Here is an example of a stain that was treated with a very common store brought product that claims it is specifically designed to remove carpet stains.
Fall CleaningYou can see that the cleaner actually made a bigger mess. Rather then removing the stain, the cleaner actually spread it. These type of store bought cleaners can have a negative effect on your carpet for several reasons. If they are soap based, they are actually adding to the buildup of the stain. If they are chemical based, they can actually discolor your carpet. In this photo, the cleaner basically just spread the stain throughout the carpet. Prior to the attempted cleaning, this was just a simple, small stain. After cleaning with a basic cleaner, which claims to be specifically for carpet stain removal, the stain has expanded to a large smear in the carpet.

Best Pet Stain Remover For CarpetOne small spot can be frustrating, but when there are several stains, a carpet cleaned improperly can be an embarrassing nightmare. In the event that a carpet cleaner doesn't work, stains become the least of your worries. In the above example, an attempt was made to clean several stains. This photo represents months of trying to remove carpet stains using several different household cleaners. It is more then obvious that these cleaners failed miserably. Prior to cleaning, some of these stains were only visible if you approached the stains up close. After cleaning, they became eye sores. Cleaner after cleaner failed. The next step was replacing the carpet.
However . . . it turned out that the carpet simply wasn't cleaned right! After correctly cleaning the carpet, not only were the stains gone, but the stains left behind from the other cleaning products were removed as well.

If you have carpets that have become a nightmare, or if you are at your wits end with the mess on your floor, you are probably asking "How did you do it??" While this carpet was a battle for over 6 months, with an arsenal of store bought products and threats of being torn out, the issue ended up being resolved in less then an hour with amazing results as you can see.

How To Make Your Carpets Look Professionally Cleaned

It turned out that cleaning this carpet and removing the stains was easier then ever . . . once it was done correctly. The key to properly removing stains from the carpet was in the cleaner. The best type of cleaner to use is a water based surfactant. A surfactant cleaner works quite differently from other cleaners. It does not contain harsh chemicals or soaps found in many cleaners labelled as spot or carpet cleaners. Those type of cleaners promote buildup in carpet, or can cause reactions with previously used cleaners, or even with your carpet for that matter. Enzyme based cleaners can also be highly ineffective. The biggest problem with enzymes is that they are bacteria based. Because of this, they will only break down components with a specific composition. They react to other elements, and if the elements do not correspond, the enzyme will not break down what you are looking to remove. Vinegar and ammonia are often suggested, however if you have pets this is an absolute No No as pets can be drawn to urinate in the places where they were applied.
Surfactant based cleaners do not contain harsh chemicals. There is no bleach. There is no ammonia or vinegar. There are no enzymes. Instead, the cleaner breaks down the bonds of the stain, causing it to detach from the surface. It can then be flushed from the area it was located in.
The best way to clean a carpet, and the way that was done in the above example, was with a carpet cleaning machine. The machine used was a Bissel Pro Heat. It is probably one of the best carpet cleaners a home owner can buy. The cleaner used was Genesis 950 - which is without question the best carpet cleaner available.

How To Shampoo Your Carpets

The actual process to clean these stained areas took less then an hour. It was quite simple. The Bissell Pro Heat 2X has a compartment that fills with water, and another that fills with cleaning solution. In this case Genesis 950. The machine allows the user to set the level of cleaning needed. Obviously, based on the stains, the setting was "Heavy". Slowly, go over the stained areas releasing the mixture of solution and water into the carpet. After the area has been cleaned, the next step is to rinse. As the surfactant based cleaner has been released into the carpet, it immediately begins to break down the dirt, grime, and other residue in the carpet. Once the area is finished, use only water, and the rinse setting on the machine. Go over the area that was cleaned and begin flushing all the lifted debris from the carpet.
For this particular carpet, the rinse cycle took the longest. Upon rinsing, the water being returned to the machine was mud brown. It was shocking to see what was coming out of the carpet. It should have been expected based on how the surface looked, but we often forget that the dirt, dust and grime settle down into the carpet. This carpet needed to be rinsed about 7 to 8 times before the water being returned was clean. However the end results speak for them selves. The carpet was no longer a filthy eyesore. It was clean, smelled fresh, and was even restored to a fluffy state.
